3D Leaves Thank You Card

I love autumn. I grew up on the east coast where the leaves are gorgeous this time of year. Beautiful reds, yellows, ambers. I knew for this project I wanted to use autumn leaves to make a card, but I wanted something a little less traditional. This fall 3D “THANK YOU” card folds neatly into an A2 envelope, and it makes for a nice display on your recipient’s desk. Let's get started!

I purchased the "Box Card Envelope Thank You" by Lori Whitlock. I changed the “dashed” cut lines to score lines. I ungrouped, grouped, and attached the layers as appropriate to make it easier to work with the file. Next, I deleted all the flowers in the cut file. I changed the colors on the file to the ones I wanted to use. I decided to make the envelope background (“YOU” )in Paver Red cardstock and the components on top of the envelope in Brown Box Kraft. I changed the “THANK” component to Tangy Orange. I left the envelope insert white in the workspace, but decided I would use autumn patterned paper. I wound up completely covering it with leaves - so I think leaving it white (Sweet Tooth) is just fine!   

I used my electronic die-cutting machine to cut the cardstock panels. I then used my favorite leaf die from my stash to cut out leaves in Paver Red, Tangy Orange, Orange Fizz, Lemon Drop, and Sour Apple.

I then distressed my leaves and card components using brown, dark orange, maroon, dark yellow, and dark green inks. To begin the assembly of the main card components, I folded all the score lines. To adhere the “Thank” insert, I used score tape on each of the tabs, and on the tab of the card base. I flipped the “Thank” panel so the “K” in thanks was to the left, removed the left piece of Scor-Tape covering, and adhered it to the inside of the main panel. I repeated this process with the right side. I then secured the main envelope panel with the inside tab.

I inserted the envelope liner panel and adhered it with liquid adhesive, followed by kraft side panels and the bottom envelope panel.  

I experimented with my layout - positioning leaves inside the envelope first before finalizing the outside of the envelope. I adhered the leaves with a combination of liquid adhesive and double-sided foam tape for dimension. Finally, I inserted some leaves on the outer portion of the envelope before gluing the Kraft and Paver Red panels together.  

Here's what it looks like all finished! Now it's ready to send to someone to say a big and beautiful "THANK YOU!"
