Summer is coming to a close and that means it's time to send the kiddos back to school! What better way to kick off this transition than by adding a touch of joy and creativity to your child's morning routine? A decorative topper for a stack of pancakes is a delightful and simple project that will surely bring a smile to their face on the first day of school. Imagine the surprise when they sit down for breakfast and find their favorite breakfast adorned with a whimsical topper, specially crafted just for them. It's these little moments of thoughtfulness and fun that can make the back-to-school season a little brighter and more memorable for our kids. Let's dive into this easy and charming DIY project that will make your child's return to school extra special!
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers:
- Forest Green Colorplan 100lb
- Paper Bag Kraft 100lb
- Lessebo Colours 100lb: Sunflower, Red Rose, Flamingo, Beach Blue, White, Pitch Black
- Silver Stardream Metallic 105lb
- Bearly Art Glue®
- Hot Glue
- Food sticks
- Cricut Design Space file
This project is so easy to put together! Open the Cricut Design Space link above and choose your paper colors. I chose a traditional "chalkboard green" and then added some bright colors to go with it. You can see the colors I used listed in the supplies above. If you don't have a Cricut machine, you can search your machine's software for chalkboard, alphabet, rainbow, pencil, etc to create a similar file.
Once all your pieces are cut, you simply layer them together! I am using Bearly Art liquid glue because it makes assembling projects like this SO easy. Once you have your topper assembled, hot glue some sticks to the back to hold it up in your stack of pancakes. You can use food sticks from the craft store, or wooden shish-kabob sticks.
And you're done! This project is so easy and is especially great for kiddos who may be nervous about starting school.
