Back to School Teacher Cards

My how quickly time flies, right? The whole summer seems like it just flew by like a gust of wind! As we’re starting to wind down for summer and prepare for fall… there’s one huge step in between. BACK TO SCHOOL!! This is a fun time for me… Or at least it was years ago when all of my children were home and small. Now I just have one 16 year old left, so I have to find something to do with my ideas for teachers, lol! Therefore, I give them to you. (You’re welcome 😉)  As always I’d like to start off by tipping my hat to all the courageous teachers heading into the school year this fall. I know it’s a tough job and I for one appreciate all of you for doing it! 🤗🤗

With that being said, let’s get into making these quick and cute projects for the teachers in our lives. The first project is a gift card holder with a place for a short note. The second project is a card.

Supplies:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
    • Lavender Colorplan 100lb

    • Lemon Drop Pop-Tone 65lb

    • Wild Cherry Pop-Tone 65lb

    • Bitter Chocolate Colorplan 100lb

    • Bright White Colorplan 100lb

    • Silver Mirror 100lb

  • Free SVG files
(click the link, then right-click the image to save the file to your computer)
  • Adhesive (hot, wet, dry)

  • Foam dots

  • Sequins (optional)

Start out by gathering your adhesive(s). I used multiple adhesives for different parts of my projects. On the thinner cuts I used either spray glue or wet glue and the larger pieces I used either foam dots or dry adhesive.

CARD 1:
Because you’re awesome, I have created MANY SVG’s for you to use in this project and any other projects in the future that you see fit. 😌 Start out by uploading your cut files and getting them ready to use. We are going to start with the Gift Card Holder. If you are using a Cricut, you will need to change the cut lines on the card base to score lines and then "attach" them to the card base. If you don't know how to do this, you can watch the video below.

The next thing you will need to do is print the Library Card and cut it out. You can either add the PNG to your die-cutting machine's software and use the print-then-cut feature, or you can print the PDF and cut it out with scissors or a paper cutter.

Now you can cut all your other pieces. Be sure to pay close attention to anything that’s grouped. I used the following colors:

  • Card base and book outline: Sirio Ultra Black
  • Pocket front: Sour Apple
  • Book backing: Lavender
  • Pencil: Orange Fizz, Wild Cherry, White Birch Wood Veneer, Sirio Ultra Black, Silver Mirror, Black Mirror, and Bubblegum
  • Apple: Wild Cherry, Forest, Bitter Chocolate, Bright White
  • Sentiment: Wild Cherry and white vinyl. (See note below)

Take the die-cuts of the book, the pencil, and the apple and layer them together as shown. Add foam dots to the back of all three cuts. Set these aside.

I added faux stitching marks along the perimeter of my Sour Apple front layer with a white gel pen. It gives it a school effect in my opinion.

Now all of your pieces are ready to be layered on top of the front pocket. Put your pocket together by folding along the included perforated marks. Add your top layer and your die cuts.

In the file, I have included the sentiment “ready..set..go..” You can cut this out in card stock or vinyl. I’ve chosen to cut mine out in white HTV vinyl and layer it on top of card stock with my mini heat press. I find that smaller or thinner sentiments go on better when it’s cut with vinyl and laid on top of cardstock. See!! So clean 🤗🤗

Take out and cut down the included library card printable template. Adhere your finished sentiment on top of your library card and add it to your pocket. You can attach a gift card to the back of your library card. You could also write a small message to your teacher. And we’re done! Now, wasn’t that fun?

CARD 2:
Cut out all the pieces included in card two. Before you cut your base, make sure to change the line in the middle to a score line and "attach" it to the card base like we did in the previous card. I cut my marker bases & tips out in different colors… because why not? (Wild Cherry, Orange Fizz, Sour Apple, Lavender, and Blu Raspberry.) I cut all my tops in black. My mats for my card are Lemon Drop and Sirio Ultra Black, and my card base is Bright White. I cut my letters using red vinyl.

I used spray glue to adhere my black marker tops on top of my solid color bases, wet glue to adhere the tiny little nibs to the tip of the marker, and hot glue to adhere those ovals in the middle of the marker. You can use whatever glue to prefer. This would also be a great time to use Bearly Arts glue.

This is what they should look like all put together. Once you have them layered place them on top of your marker guide. You can barely see it here because I cut it out in white. The intention is not for it to be seen on the card but to be used as a guide so that your markers will line up perfectly.

I cut my second sentiment out in vinyl again, this time in red. Also, I’m not using an offset piece in cardstock. I’m applying directly to my first card layer. Once I get done with the first two sentiments on the front, I will put the last one on the inside of my card. You can find the card base also in the SVG file. You can hardly see the base here because I cut it out in white.

I used my white gel pen again to mark around my first card layer ( Lemon Drop), to make dashes on the ovals on my marker, and to add extras to my marker tops. Feel free to do the same. I think it looks great!

I added foam dots to the back of that piece and applied it to the front of the yellow card. I took that base and added it to my second layer which I cut out in black.

Then put both of those pieces on top of my card base. Here’s a look on the inside. And we’re done!

I think that was easy and fun and I’m sure any teacher will be happy to get it. The colors are amazing and will definitely make the teacher smile. Have fun and enjoy these two quick and easy projects, SVG files, and printable. MMWAH!
