Geometric Kids Room Decor

Hi crafty friends! Ivy here from @ivypinkmade. Today I am sharing how to make a framed decoration I made for my boys' room to match their wall decor.

Supplies:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
    • Black MirriSparkle Glitter
    • Blu Raspberry
    • Pure White
    • Grayscale Cardstock Collection (I used Real Grey and Ebony)
  • Scissors
  • Cricut Maker
  • Banner and stars die cut
  • Die Cutting Machine
  • Crafty Foam tape
  • Frame
  • Twine
  • Adhesive runner (I use the Advanced Tape Glider)

The first thing I did was measure the base size I needed to fit the frame and then laid out the triangles in design space and fit it to the size of my base.

Once I had my triangles cut, I laid it out on the base to figure out the color pattern.

To make it easier to adhere I ran the adhesive on the base cardstock and then glued on each piece like a puzzle.

Next, you will need to cut two teepees

I cut two to make it thicker but if you only want to use one that's ok too.

Adhere both teepees together and then adhere on the Blu Raspberry cardstock.

I used scissors to trim the teepee from the Blu Raspberry cardstock.

This is an extra step because our real teepee actually has a pennant that looks like this and also my son is obsessed with Coyote Peterson and that's why I wanted to include the “be brave, stay wild” sign. I used a pennant banner die and cut it on my sizzix big shot.

I also made a vinyl sticker using my Cricut maker because its easier to stick on tiny letters on the pennant with this material.

I finished up the mini pennant with twine to be able to tie it on the teepee.

Use an ATG gun to adhere your pattern on the frame and then use crafty foam tape to adhere the teepee on your background.

The last part is to cut the moon and the stars from Black Mirrisparkle.

I also used crafty foam tape just to give it some dimension.

I love being able to create custom decor, it’s inexpensive but very personal.

When you want to change it it’s easy to remove from the frame and you can use it as a scrapbook page!
