Mistletoe Mirror Paper Holiday Card

Mistletoe Mirror Paper Holiday Card

Christmas cards adorn our mantel every year along with stockings and trimmings. They always add a bright, shiny and familiar look to our decorations. Of course, Christmastime is the card-sending-est season of all. With cardstock from Cardstock Warehouse, a few dies, and a stamp set, you can put the cutest cards in the hands (and probably on the mantels) of your family and friends, this year.

 GETTING STARTED

To get started, you will need to gather some stamps, inks and coordinating paper. Here’s a list of the supplies I used:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers 100 lb in Pure White, Green Mirror, and Red Mirror
  • Stamp & die sets: Concord & 9th - Mistletoe Messages Bundle and Woven Stripes Background
  • Inks: Catherine Pooler Inks - Midnight and Hot Tub
  • Die-cutting machine - I highly recommend the Gemini Junior
  • Paper trimmer
  • Scoring tool
  • Stamping tool (i.e. acrylic block, MISTI)
  • Strong liquid adhesive

CREATING THE CARD

To begin, I created an A2-sized card base out of some Pure White cardstock.  Next, I stamped the striped background image onto an A2-sized panel of Pure White cardstock using the Hot Tub Ink.

I trimmed down the panel a 1/4” shorter and adhered it to an A2-sized panel of the Ultra Black cardstock.

Afterward, I die cut several pieces of Green and Red Mirror cardstock using the Mistletoe and Berry dies to create red and green stems and berries. Then I die cut a mini banner out of Pure White cardstock.

Next, I cut the stems apart to create several pieces and adhered them to the front of the striped panel. Then, I glued the berries in place.

On the mini banner, I stamped the words “holiday bliss & a mistletoe kiss”, in Midnight ink. Then, I popped it up on to the front of the striped cardstock with some foam tape for dimension. [PRO TIP: I like to die cut my shapes and then stamp them later. Sometimes the die-cutting process moves the dies and produces an off-centered piece. This way, I can center it with my acrylic block and a well-inked-up stamp.]

Then, to finish off the card, I popped up the panel onto the front of the scored card base with some fun foam.
