Hello crafty friends Ivy here from @ivypinkmade. I started a new craft hobby which involves working with UV Resin and Epoxy. I thought it would be interesting to experiment and see if I am able to embed paper in resin and what it would turn out like. Let's get started! I’m so excited to show you the outcome!
Here are some supplies you will need:
Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers: Spearmint, Limeade, Sour Apple, Gumdrop Green, and Jellybean Green
- UV Resin
- Pigment Powder
- Silicone Mold
- UV LED Lamp
- Shape Punch
- Earring hooks
- Tweezers
- Disposable Gloves
- Safety Respirator mask
- Wooden Popsicle stick
- Small disposable container
*Please note to always take safety measures when working with any type of resin and to make sure you are working in a well ventilated area.
Let’s get started.
The first step is to Punch a bunch of tiny circle shapes using one sheet of each color in the Fields of Green Cardstock Collection. If you don't have a small circle punch, you can use any shape you have on hand.
Next, take the UV Resin and mix some pigment powder (pigment powder is optional) and pour into the mold and cover it only half of the way.
This is what takes some time to do; arranging the dots in the mold if you want to create an ombre effect. I used tweezers to help me place each dot in the resin.
Once you are happy with how it looks, fill up the mold with more UV resin to make sure all the card stock is covered and embedded in the UV resin.
Take the mold and place it inside the UV Nail lamp and set it for 90 seconds, and then 30 seconds. If it is still tacky do it again for another 30 seconds.
This is what it looks light once it's pulled out of the mold. The pigment powder I used had a lot of shimmer and the back side turned out to be better. Luckily you can use either side depending on your preference.
This is what the reverse side looks like, which I think shows the dot colors better.
Which side do you like more?
I know that this project is a little different than what you are used to seeing here on the blog, but I think it’s so fun to experiment with what you can do with paper.
