Crayon Gift Card Holder

Hi friends, it’s Ivy here! I know it’s only July but back to school will be here before you know it! I have a gift card holder to get you ahead of the game to start the school year off right and surely brighten that teacher's day! I love interactive cards that have a little surprise but are also easy! This project is both!

This project uses black cardstock paper along with a variety of bold Sirio paper colors to create card holders that really pop!

Let’s get started, here are the supplies you will need:

Arancio
Limone
Turchese
Lime
Black Licorice Pop-Tone

Scor-Tape
Electronic cutting machine
Xyron Creative station
White Vinyl

The first step I did was cut all of the pieces using an electronic cutting machine. Your crayon should be roughly 7.25 x 3.5 inches.

I made a few in different colors just to have on hand but they can all be the same color if you prefer.

Once you have all of your pieces cut out, the first thing is to tape the three edges of the square piece with the oval using 1/8" Scor-Tape. This will be the piece the gift card will slip into. I made sure to put the adhesive on the very edge.

Center the oval to line up both pieces and make sure the part without adhesive is facing the edge towards the end of the crayon.

Next is to tape the black strips and adhere it on both ends of the crayon.

Layer the red crayon on to the black cardstock backing.

Now the oval piece will show through the black layer.

I used the Cricut to cut out Thank You on white vinyl. This font is called Pharmacy from Dafont.com.

I used vinyl because it’s very thin and works like a sticker, I figured this would not catch when pulling the gift card out or slipping it back in. If you don't have vinyl you can use a stamp as well.

I ran the black oval pieces in my creative station so the full back is covered with adhesive. If you don't have a Xyron, you can use liquid glue. Just make sure none of the glue seeps out of the edges. I love how the black cardstock paper creates a nice contrast when used with the white vinyl and these eye-catching cardstock colors!

Slip the gift card back into the pocket. Once it's positioned, adhere the black oval on top of the gift card. I cut white vinyl with the teacher's name and placed it on the black oval.
