3d Ombre Letter Layering Valentine Card

3d Ombre Letter Layering Valentine Card

Hey everyone, this is Joy with Create It With Joy. I hope you are ready to get inspired and create! When I saw the Be My Valentine Cardstock Pack, I knew that I wanted to show off all of the beautiful colors. I also found a wonderful background paper that would give you the feel of a carved tree. So that was my inspiration for this card, I hope you love this project as much as I do.

Supplies:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
    • Be My Valentine Cardstock (all colors)
    • Cherry Wood Veneer
    • Sweet Tooth White
  • SpiegelMom Scraps Pink Promenade Sequins
  • The Stamp Market: Layered Love Die, Cherry Kisses Ink
  • Lawn Fawn: Heart Shaker Gift Tag Die, Glue tube
  • Honeybee Stamps Deckle Edge A2 Die
  • Simon Says Stamp: You are 6x6 cling stamp, Sentiment, Intense black ink
  • White fun foam
  • Judikins window plastic
  • Tape runner
  • String/Ribbon

I wanted this card to give the feel that it was a tree with a sweet sentiment carved into it. So to start this card, you need to die cut the Cherry Wood Veneer Cardstock with the Deckle Edge die (use the largest die). Then die cut the word “love you” out of Wild Cherry (from the Be My Valentine Card Pack) with the Layered Love Die and stamp that with the “You Are” background stamp in black ink.

Now take the other die from the Layered Love Die and die cut the letters to the words “love you” out of all the colors of cardstock from the “Be My Valentine” Card Pack. Cut each letter out twice. Glue together the letters of the same color (they will be double stacked when done).

Start at the bottom with the darkest color of cardstock and finish with the lightest color on top (you will get an ombre effect), glue them all together with liquid glue.

Now you have a very dimensional die cut word. When you look from the side you will see the ombre effect. It is a wonderful way to showcase all the beautiful colors in this paper pack. Finally glue the dimensional letters to the stamped “love you” background.

For the small shaker element, die cut the background from Wild Cherry Cardstock with the Heart Shaker Gift Tag Die and cut the front from Cherry Wood Veneer Cardstock. Using the same die for the front, cut white fun foam twice (this will give plenty of space for the shaker bits to shake around). Use the back die cut piece and cut out a piece of Window Plastic.

Glue the two pieces of fun foam together, then glue the plastic on the front (liquid glue works best) and finish the front with the Cherry Wood Veneer piece. Flip over the heart and add the fun sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps, this is a collaboration with Cardstock Warehouse, they are so fun and I thought they worked out perfect for this shaker element. Now glue the back piece on with liquid glue (it is the red heart).

Let’s finish this super cute card. Stamp the sentiment with Cherry Kisses Ink and adhere it. Adhere the background die cut (Cherry Wood Veneer) to an A2 size card base. Then adhere the dimensional words, shaker heart and the SUPER CUTE wood hearts from SpiegelMom Scraps Valentine Collaboration. When I saw those hearts I knew that they were made for this card!
