Wood Veneer Paper Easter Basket

Wood Veneer Paper Easter Basket

A-Tisket, A-Tasket a Paper Picnic Basket!

Ahhhhh, I'm still dreaming of a beautiful spring. My fingers are still crossed that it will come soon. 🤞🏾 Looking out of my window - as I was in the previous post - the snow is up to my knees, and it’s still falling. Although very pretty, It’s still very annoying. But being able to create with such pretty colors brightens my day! And hopefully my project this month will brighten yours.

We’ll be making a cute little package craft that you can use for any occasion! This month is geared toward Easter, but it is a very versatile file... And it’s free! I created the file for you guys to use for any season and for any reason!! Let’s get started!

Supplies:

  • Cardstock Warehouse Papers:
    • Desert Sand MirriSparkle 104lb
    • Rosa Woodstock 83lb
    • Birch Wood Veneer 12pt
  • Ceacon Zip Dry™ Glue
  • Foam Squares
  • Hot Glue
  • Bone Folder
  • SVG Files (click link, then right-click to save to desktop)

Start out by preparing your file. Depending on the machine you have, you may have to convert the score lines. For Cricut, upload the file, click on the "group" shown below, and convert those lines to "score." If you've never done this before, you can find tutorials on YouTube.

Then, cut your box pieces, your handle, your circle covers, and your bow. I cut my box out of the Birch Wood Veneer, and the details out of Desert Sand Glitter and Rosa Woodstock. The bow is completely optional, but I think it adds an extra cute touch!

We will start making the bow first. Grab yourself a scoring tool. I find that it works the best when creating the rounded area of the bow.

Curl both ends of the bow separately, add hot glue to the center portion, and adhere the tabs to the center, one at a time.

Layer the smaller bow on top of the larger bow and secure together with hot glue in the center.

Finish your bow by adding that set on top of your bottom piece and wrap the center to tie it off. (You'll have a few pieces left over. I included extras in case you need them!)

Now let's work on the basket handle! Layer your handle piece one on top of the other, from smallest to largest. I did this using wet glue because it’s more pliable when you’re trying to curve your handle. I created a smaller offset piece for the center with my scissors just to add that sparkle.

Let’s begin working on the basket. Fold over all of the preparation/score marks. Choose how wide you’d like your basket and secure the strips together. You can keep your layers flat if you choose, like this. Repeat on the other side.

If you want a bulkier look, like mine, then do this. For each set of three, grab piece 1 and 3 and secure them together. Take piece 2, add a bit of a curve with your bone folder and secure that on top of 1 & 3.

Move over to the next set of three and do the same thing. Your middle piece should bow on top of the sets for each one. This is how wide I chose to make my basket.

Attach your handle. You can choose to attach the handle on the inside of the basket or the outside. We will cover up the end of the handle on the next step if you choose the latter.

I added foam tape in between my 2 circular cover layers. I secured the set with hot glue on to my basket, to cover up the end of my handle.

Now you can add the bow here. I decided to just make one, but you could add one on each side. Feel free to size as you see fit!

All that is left to do is fill with your basket fluff and goodies for your craft buddies, family, friends, and of course, the children.

That’s it, we’re done! I really love how mine turned out. I hope you enjoy creating with this file! Have fun with it and enjoy your spring for me!
