How many vacation photos do you have? I have thousands. I love each memory they represent but often find it hard to find coordinating products for the mood of the photo. I don’t always want to use the same embellishments and pattern paper to create my scrapbook layouts. Sometimes I want something simpler that really let my photo be the star. By using a simple cut file I was able to capture the mood of my photo without going super theme-y.
To start, you will need:
- Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
- Colorplan Lockwood 100 lb. cover
- Pop-Tone Sour Apple 100 lb. cover
- Pop-Tone Jellybean Green 100 lb. cover
- Pop-Tone Sweet Tooth 100 lb. cover
- Evergreen Sparkle Glitter 104 lb. cover
- cutting machine or punches
- tape runner
- liquid glue
- Glue Dots
- Photo
- Optional embellishments:
- Alpha/cut-file for the title
- Sequins
To start, choose the colors that you feel represent your photo. I chose to go with a variety of greens, including a glitter cardstock for added sparkle. You could easily choose to go with the fun bright colors in the Pop-Tone collection (I think I have a new idea for my next layout!).
Next choose a cut file. There are many available on the Cricut or Silhouette Design Store and other places on the Internet. The cut file I chose is from Ink Road Stamps. Cut the leaves out in varying sizes in the various colors. If you are looking for more information on die-cutting check out the detailed post here.
The next step is assembling your layout. I first practiced laying out my leaves on my white cardstock background. Once I was happy with the layout, I started adhering the leaves down using my tape runner.
Last, I used foam adhesive to adhere my photo to my layout and glued my title in place. My title is also a cut file from Ink Road Stamps. The only extra embellishment I added was some green sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps. I used Glue Dots from Cardstock Warehouse to adhere these down. It’s the least messy way to adhere sequins down that I have found.
The process video shows you how I created this layout step-by-step. Check it out!
