Halloween Pennants in Three Sizes

Hey there! It’s Kira, and I am back today with a super fun project to get you in the Halloween crafting mood! Join me while we make some Halloween pennants using Cardstock Warehouse papers! I was recently decorating a baby shower gift and decided to make some cute pennants for the basket I was making when I thought, “how cute would these be for Halloween?!” Let's get started!

Supplies:

Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers

Fuchsia
Tangy Orange
Grapesicle
Barely Pink
Black Licorice
Pink Lemonade
Nightshift Blue
Pure White (scrapbook page background paper)

Hot glue gun
Adhesive
Foam Adhesive
Scissors
Electronic cutting machine (like a Cricut)
Alpha Stickers
Ribbon
Wood skewers/dowels/toothpicks

To make these pennants, you want to first decide what size you want them. I made three sizes, but all the steps for creating them are exactly the same. First, you want to start with a rectangular shaped piece of paper. I used a full 8.5x11 piece of cardstock for the largest size. Then, mark your paper at the halfway point on the short side (4.25” for a full sheet of cardstock). You can either draw a line from this mark to the opposite corner (and then cut along the line with scissors) or do what I did and use a ruler and straight blade to cut the paper.

Do this to each corner to create a triangle. Once you have your triangle, you will want to score along the shortest edge of your triangle where you will be inserting your dowel/skewer. I went in about ½” from the edge and scored there.

Once you fold along your score line, you’ll notice the edge peeks out on the top and the bottom. So you will just want to take your scissors and trim those pieces off.

Add some hot glue along the scored edge and adhere your dowel/skewer in. I used skewers because they come in packs of 100 at the dollar store and they always come in handy for craft projects. A dowel could provide a little more stability though. It’s all personal preference.

Lastly, decorate! I used my Cricut to cut out a spider web, a spider, some bats and a cute Halloween phrase. I added a variety of ribbon to tie at the base of my pennant.

These larger ones are great for photo props. I will find any excuse to make my kids pose for a picture!

I also made some medium sized ones (using a 7”x4.5” piece of paper) which are perfect for home décor or gift wrapping.

And finally, my favorite, some cute little mini pennants! I made these out of 2x1.5” paper and toothpicks. I used alpha stickers to spell “boo” on one and a Cricut cut spider on the other. I used bakers twine instead of ribbon to cut down on the bulk too. These are the perfect size to add to cards or scrapbook layouts, which I did here:
