What better way to ‘treat yo self’ this summer than by creating your own ice cream truck and ice cream cone banner?
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers in the following colors:
- Black Licorice, Desert Sand Mirrisparkle, Sweet Tooth White, Spearmint, Razzle Berry, Cotton Candy, Pink Lemonade, and Grapesicle
- Cricut Machine
- Cricut Marker in black 0.4 fine tip
- Ice Cream Truck SVG
- Ice Cream Cone SVG
- Liquid adhesive
- White silk ribbon in 3/8 inch
- Hot glue gun
Here’s the scoop, follow these directions to create your own Ice Cream Shoppe Banner.
Begin by uploading the ice cream truck and ice cream cone SVGs into Cricut Design Space. Once uploaded, resize the images to a width of your choosing. For the project pictured, I sized the trucks to 5 inches in width and the cones to 2.5 inches in width. Once you’ve sized the truck and cones, select the ‘ICE CREAM’ words and change the Linetype to draw. Weld the words and attach them to the window where they are overlaid.
Select ‘Make It’ in design space, load the first color and let your machine do the work.
For the project pictured, I cut four trucks and four ice cream cones in the two color palettes pictured below.
Once each of the truck and ice cream cone pieces has been cut, remove your Cricut Marker from your machine and finish filling in the words ‘ICE CREAM’.
Next, you’ll want to organize all the colors in separate piles. The trucks will take the longest to assemble, so you may want to work on these first.
Begin by taking the truck silhouette and overlay the door attached to the bumper on top, secure with liquid adhesive. Take the window and glue it to the top of the door. Then, you’ll secure the window with ‘ICE CREAM’ on it to the middle of the open space just right of the door. Once that’s secure, overlay the awning on top. Take the wheels and wheel coverings and attach them to the bottom of the truck. Lastly, attach the melting ice cream and sprinkles to the top of the truck.
Let’s move on to the ice cream cones now. These are very simple to assemble.
Take the bottom ice cream scoop and place liquid adhesive to the very bottom by the melting drips. Attach this scoop base to the top of the ice cream cone. Once secured, place glue on the bottom of the next scoop and apply to the top of the first scoop. Follow this same process to complete the two cones that have three scoops. When the ice cream has been “scooped”, be sure to add sprinkles to each cone!
You should now have four of each truck and four of each ice cream cone complete.
Now it’s time to assemble the banner. Using a hot glue gun, attach each cone and truck to the white silk ribbon. Voila! You now have your own Ice Cream Shoppe Banner! Be sure to ‘mind the melt’ wherever you decide to hang it!
Your banner is now ready to hang at your next summer party!
