Thanksgiving can prove a lonely time for some people who find themselves without friends or family close by for the holiday. Many people travel out of town and singles, widows and divorcees can feel left out of celebrations altogether. One way to reach out to these friends that we find encouraging is to extend a cheerful and welcoming invitation to them to share our table at Thanksgiving.
Using Cardstock Warehouse paper, stamps, inks and dies, you can create beautiful and simple invitations to share with your guests at any celebration! This time, though, we will use some fall colors to create a beautiful and interesting card with a fall theme.
GETTING STARTED
To get started, you will need to gather some stamps, inks and coordinating paper. Here’s a list of the supplies I used:
- Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers 100 lb in: Pure White, Red Hot, Tangy Orange, Orange Fizz, Mandarin Orange, Gumdrop Green, Forest Green, Paper Bag Kraft, Sirio Ultra Black, Gun Metal Mirror
- Stamp & die sets: Concord & 9th - Friendship Farms Stamps & Dies Bundle, Woven Plaid Background.
- Inks: (I used Gina K Inks)
- Die cutting machine
- Paper trimmer
- Scoring tool
- Stamping tool (i.e. acrylic block, MISTI)
- Strong liquid adhesive
CREATING THE CARD
To begin, I created an A2-sized card base out of some Pure White cardstock. Next, I stamped the plaid background image onto an A2-sized panel of Paper Bag Kraft cardstock using the Barely There Ink. This adds an interesting tone-on-tone look for the background. I trimmed down the panel a 1/4” shorter and adhered it to an A2-sized panel of the Ultra Black cardstock.
Afterwards, I die cut several pieces of different colored cardstock using the Friendship Farms Dies to create red and green apples, a tri-color pumpkin, a green leaf, a Kraft bushel with gun metal accents and a raised Kraft panel.
On the mini-panel, I stamped the words Hey There Pumpkin, in Tangerine Orange and Slate inks from Gina K. Then, I popped it up on to the front of the Kraft cardstock with some foam tape for dimension.
Next, I adhered the red apples without stems to the front of some of the green apples with stems to add greenery to the red apples. I adhered the gun metal cardstock straps to the front of the die cut bushel. Then, I adhered the apples background piece to the back of the bushel and glued the apples onto the front of it in a staggered fashion. Finally, I cut the bushel into two pieces down the middle.
Then, I put the pumpkin together by gluing the Paper Bag Kraft Stem, the Tangy Orange pieces to the front of the Mandarin Orange pumpkin and the Orange Fizz piece to the front of it all. I had some extra apples cut out and so I thought they’d look great in front of the pumpkin.
To make the pumpkin stem and the bushel stand out a little more, I colored over them with a Warm Gray No. 3 Copic Marker.
To finish off the card, I adhered it all to the front of the A2-sized card base and smiled a big smile. I can’t wait to invite a friend to Thanksgiving Dinner with this little beauty.
