‘Tis the season to bring out everything pumpkin and have it consume every nook and cranny of your house! My obsession is real and the need is great, time to DIY. I decided to adapt an earlier project (my paper ball garland) into super cute pumpkins, so make sure to check that post out as well. These would be super cute in all the many shades of pumpkin as well, so feel free to adapt this however you'd like, but here’s how I made mine!
Materials needed:
- Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers in Orange Fizz and Gumdrop Green
- Butcher paper
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Paper slicer
- Scoring tool (optional)
First, I sliced my 8.5x11 inch paper vertically to make one inch wide strips. You will need four strips for each pumpkin, so keep that in mind if you’re making multiple pumpkins. Then I cut out multiple pumpkin leaves that measured approximately two and a half inches and ripped long strips out of my butcher paper for the stems. This is where I also decided to score lines down my leaf to give it more dimension and shape but that is totally optional. To score I just used a butter knife.
Then I started hot gluing the pumpkin strips together, first by creating a ring and then layering each following ring perpendicularly. Once I glued all four strips together, I glued the leaf to the top of each pumpkin, covering the overlapping paper.
To make the stems, I used butcher paper because I wanted it to be thin enough to tightly roll up, but feel free to use whatever type of paper you’d like. Once I tightly rolled up my strips to the thickness that I wanted, I cut them to be about half an inch tall and hot glued them just slightly over the leaf.
Then voila, the pumpkin is finished! Just repeat the steps however many times you'd like. This would make an adorable garland, vase filler, or you could use it to fill a bowl for your coffee table or kitchen table like I did! Now relish in the pumpkin bliss!
