Wedding Favor Treat Boxes with Decorative Pennants

Wedding Favor Boxes with Decorative Pennants

Creating your own wedding favors is not only fun, but it's a great way to save some money for your big day! These paper boxes embellished with paper pennants can be filled with candy, seeds, specialty tea, cocktail kits, fancy salts, or whatever else your heart desires! Let's get started!

Supplies

  • Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
    • Comoscio Woodstock 105lb
    • Cipria Woodstock 105lb
    • Verdigris Materica 92lb
    • Rust Colorplan 100lb
    • Gold Mirror
    • Gold Diamond Print Inkjet Glitter
  • Patterned paper
  • Bone Folder
  • Scor-Tape
  • Bearly Arts Glue
    Ribbon
  • Die-cutting machine
    • I am using a Cricut Explore Air 2 and these files. If you're using another machine, you can search for a similar box in that machine's software.

Your first step is to choose papers that match your event and then cut all your pieces. I used Comoscio for my box, and Cipria, Verdigris, Rust, Gold Mirror, and Gold Diamond Print for the pennants. I also cut some leaves out of Verdigris and Cipria. For the patterned paper, I printed a page from Traci Reed's Rooted collection and printed it on matte photo paper.

Once I had my pieces cut, I glued my pennant pieces together in the order shown below. I used Barely Arts Glue to glue these pieces together so I had a few seconds to wiggle the pieces into the exact right spot.

Next, I reinforced the score lines on Comoscio box piece. My Cricut doesn't make very deep score lines, so I used my bone folder and a ruler to make the score lines deeper.

Now it's time to fold! I folded on each of the score lines and glued the tabs on the sides of the box together with Bearly Arts Glue.

The last step to creating the box is to glue the top closed. After you have glued the top, fold in the tabs on the bottom of the box. DO NOT glue the bottom flaps. This is where you will fill your boxes, and how your guests will access their goodies inside.

Once you have all your boxes made, you can start gluing the embellishments to the front. I put Scor-Tape on the back of each pennant and lined them up on the top of the box.

I used Barely Arts Glue to attach my leaves on top of the pennants.

The last step is optional, but I added a gold ribbon to the top of my box. I just thought it helped tie the whole look together. Get it? TIE?!? I'll see myself out...

I used a small piece of masking tape to hold the ribbon in place on the back of the box while I tied it, and then removed it when I was done.

Now your boxes are ready to fill with whatever goodies you choose! I recommend putting your goodies inside a plastic bag before putting them in the box so the box does not absorb any oils or moisture from the items.

I love how these turned out and can't wait to use them! You can use this method and change the colors and embellishments to match your event.
