Choosing the favors for your wedding can be a daunting task. Make it easy with these DIY Seed Packets. Gifting seeds for your guests to plant is a great way to celebrate your wedding day and let your love GROW!

- 12"x12" Parcel Wrap Kraft 100lb
- 8.5"x11" Starch White Speckletone 80lb
- 8.5"x11" Lockwood Green Colorplan 65lb
- 8.5x11" Forest Green Colorplan 65lb
- Scissors
- Paper Cutter
- Scoring Board + Scoring Tool
- Bone Folder
- 1/8" Scor-Tape
- Electronic Die-Cutting Machine or Floral Metal Dies
- Wax Seal

The first step to creating your own seed packets is choosing the design for the front panel. The panel on the front of the seed packets is 2 3/8 inches by 3 5/8 inches (2.375x3.625). I used watercolor herbal elements from Creative Market for the background and a few cute fonts. You can use this template to create your own. (Click the link, then click the arrow in the top right corner to download.) Simply open the template in your preferred design software, create your design inside the boxes, then print as many pages as you need to create your favors.
I printed mine on Starch White Speckletone 80lb paper because I love the natural fibers in this paper. It gives them a real earthy, organic feel.
Once you have them printed, cut them out along the grey lines. You can do this with scissors or with a paper cutter to make sure your lines are nice and straight.
Next, cut your 12"x12" Parcel Wrap Kraft sheets down to four 5.75"x6" rectangles to create your packets. Cut as many as you need for your event. Each 12"x12" sheet will make four seed packets. Use your scoring board to score each end of the 5.75 inch side at 1.5 inches and each end of the 6 inch side at 1 inch, as shown in the diagram below.
When trimming off your corners, trim each corner at an angle, about 3/8th of an inch from the score line, as shown in the green line above. Once they are cut, they should look like the one on the left in the picture below. You can measure these if you want, but I just used scissors and eye-balled them. They don't need to be perfect. Now you are ready to fold up your packet along the score lines.
Use your 1/8" Scor-Tape to connect the left and right flap in the middle, and then attach the bottom flap. Leave the top flap open so you can add your seeds.
Now it's time to fill your seed packets! Make sure to choose seeds that are native to your area. Add some seeds to your packet, and then use a very small amount of Scor-tape to seal them shut. Don't use too much Scor-tape or your guests will have a hard time getting them open.
Once you have your seed packets assembled, it's time to embellish! Start by attaching the printed panel to the front of your seed packets. I used Scor-tape.
I wanted to seal the packets in a fun way, so I used wax seals with some die cut greenery.
You can find the Cricut files for this greenery at this link. Cut out your greenery using 65lb Lockwood and Forest Green Colorplan. I love how well the Colorplan papers die cut! If you are using a different die-cutting machine, you can search your machine's file shop for things like "plants," "leaves," "vines," etc. You could also use a floral metal die, dried herbs, or dried flowers.
On the back of your seed packets, place two sprigs of greenery on the flap, and then cover with your wax seal. I used a gold wax because I liked the way it looked with the greens.
If you need to make sure your greenery doesn't wiggle while you place the wax, you can put a tiny amount of glue on the back of the top of the greenery. Look how beautiful this wax seal looks with the greenery!
And now your favors are complete! Your guests are sure to love them, and these will add a lovely decorative element to your tables.
