Hello everyone! The holidays are upon us! For me, that means snow. I have always lived in a place where it snows from around Halloween to March. I have a great many photos that contain my children dressed up in snow clothes. Here is one way to use a simple cut file, punch, or scissors to create a wintery layout.
Supplies needed:
- Scissors, punch, or die cutting machine
- EK Tools ZIG Glue Pen
- Glue Dots
Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers Used:
- Pop-Tone Sweet Tooth 100lb cardstock
- Rose Gold Mirror cardstock
Optional:
- Alphabet stickers
To start, I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut out a whole pile of snowflakes. You can easily use a punch or even scissors to create your own snowflakes if you don’t have a die cutting machine. I used the gorgeous Rose Gold Mirror cardstock and my go-to Sweet Tooth cardstock. I really love a white on white design for a layout but with the Rose Gold Mirror cardstock it really makes the snowflakes pop.
The background is a full sheet of the Sweet Tooth cardstock. My plan for this layout was for it to be fairly simple so I took the off cut from the cut file and used it as a stencil. Over the entire background I used white modeling paste to create a very subtle texture. This added another layer of depth and interest to the layout. Then, I took the snowflakes and adhered the centers of them using the Glue Pen from the shop. I left the ends of the flakes free to create some dimension.
As soon as the glue was dry, I layered up the next level of snowflakes. For the ones with solid centers, I used Glue Dots. This was an easy and less messy way to stick them down! For the snowflakes with holes in the center I used the Glue Pen again. I tried to alternate layering rose gold on white and white on rose gold. This created some depth and interest.
Finally, I finished the layout off with my title. I used some alphabet stickers from my stash for this. I didn’t want them to take away from the design so I chose to use small foam stickers that were similar in color. With that my layout was complete!
