This year my daughter wanted to host a “Friendsgiving” with all her besties, so we decided to build a theme around her favorite TV show. We made decorated utensil holders and custom place cards shaped like frames. Do you recognize this show?
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse cardstock papers:
- Colorplan 100lb: Nubuck Brown
- Lessebo Colours: White 100lb, Cherry 100lb, Sunflower 83lb, Purple Haze 100lb, and Pitch Black 100lb
- Liquid Glue
- Foam Tape/Foam Dots
- Paper Trimmer
- Electronic Cutting Machine
- Cut Files:
Cut all the pieces out using your cutting machine. I listed the colors I used above. The Purple Haze is a great match to a certain apartment! You’ll notice that my pieces look a tiny bit different than the pieces in the files above. This is because the files I used are old and are no longer available. (Anyone else stash away files that you know you're going to use one day and then forget about them?! Haha!) I have included the files above because they are VERY similar and will yield the same results. The frame svg file from NovaeMakersMart is great and their files are always really easy to work with. It even comes with the frame stand and you can glue it on vertically or horizontally.
For my frame file, I had to cut a black 4-inch rectangle and score it at 2 inches to make a folding card to attach to the back of the frame.
For the purple back piece of your frame, you can use the write/draw feature on your machine to add names when you cut them, or you can hand-write the names on them after. I chose to use my Cricut with a Cricut Pen to put the names on mine.
Glue the three layers of your frame together using liquid glue. I chose black for my center layer so the lines would stand out, but you could also use a darker yellow.
Once your frame is dry, use liquid glue, hot glue, or double-sided tape to adhere the folded card on the back of the frame. Make sure the bottom of the rectangle lines up nicely with the bottom of the frame so that your card will stand up properly.
Now let’s work on the utensil holder pieces. To make your turkey, glue the brown turkey to the black backing piece. Glue the black glasses layer on top of the white glasses layer, and then glue the tassel to the top of the hat. Finally, glue your finished glasses and hat on top of your turkey.
For the utensil holder, fold along the 3 score lines. Glue the two center flaps together in the middle, then glue the bottom flap on top. Pinch these closed until they dry. Bearly Art™ glue is great for this because it dries quickly and has a strong seal.
Use foam tape or foam dots to attach your turkey to the utensil holder. This gives it some nice dimension!
Now you are ready to add your cutlery. After washing your hands, fold up a coordinating napkin and slip it into the utensil holder. Then add your silverware in front of the napkin.
You can place these at each place setting with the place cards and you’ve got a fun and unique table setup perfect for entertaining!
Could these BE any cuter? I KNOW! (iykyk 😉)
