Graduates love receiving money as a gift but wrapping it in a special way can be a challenge. Step up your gifting game for graduation season with this unique money holder. This could be hole punched and added as a gift tag or given by itself. Follow along for this simple project, elevated with both mirror and shimmer metallic paper.

Start by cutting and scoring all of the pieces from the above file. I customized a lip balm holder project available in Cricut Design Space to create this money holder. I am using Pitch Black for the holder base, White for the panel with the words, Black Mirror for the top of the hat, Sunflower for the tassel, and Gold for the stars.
Next, fold the main piece of the holder along all the scored lines, pressing firmly. You can see which direction I folded each line in the photo below. Once the holder is folded, glue the ‘Congrats Grad!’ pentagon shape on the front. Then, carefully glue the small letter details inside the letters. I like to use reverse tweezers to place my tiny pieces. So much easier than using your fingers!
Next, place foam tape on the back of the diamond-shaped cap piece. This is completely optional but gives the cap some added dimension. Place the hat piece on top of the holder. Fold and secure the holder together in the back with liquid glue.
Lastly, it’s time to add the final details – glue the cap’s tassel and the tiny gold stars. This part made me think of the classic graduation quote “the tassel was worth the hassle!” I also love the shimmer on the tiny gold stars. Stardream paper for the win!
Fill the money holder with a crisp, rolled-up bill and it’s ready for gifting! You could also wrap the bill around a tube of chapstick or a cylindrical candy and slide it in there.
