Hello, crafty friends! I hope you're having a wonderful and creative day! With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s time to break out the snowflakes and get crafty with some festive cards. To know me is to know my love for snow and all things winter, so today I’m excited to share a beautiful snow-themed card tutorial that’s perfect for spreading holiday cheer. This card is packed with texture, shine, and a touch of magic thanks to the holographic snowflakes and wintry colors.
Supplies:
-
Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Paper:
- Lessebo White 100lb (for card base and sentiment)
- Lessebo Lagoon 83lb (for background panel)
- Rainbow Holographic (for snowflakes)
- Vellum 48lb (to add soft layers)
- Snowflake Embossing Folder
- Snowflake dies
- Sentiment dies/stamps
- Adhesives:
- Liquid Glue
- Foam Tape
- Distress Oxide Inks: Chipped Sapphire and Stormy Sky
- Blending Brushes
- Luster White Brush for splatter effect (optional)
Start by cutting a panel from Lessebo Lagoon cardstock to fit your A2-sized card base (4.25x5.5 inches). My panel is 4x5.25 so that it nests perfectly on the white base. Place this panel in your embossing folder and run it through your machine. This creates a perfect subtle background.
To give the background a wintry night vibe, take Distress Oxide Chipped Sapphire and Stormy Sky inks and blend them around the edges of your embossed panel. Use circular motions with your blending brush for an ombre effect. The darker ink on the edges helps draw the eye to the center of the card, making your snowflakes pop even more!
Next, die cut snowflakes out of Rainbow Holographic paper. The holographic paper makes them look like they’re shimmering in the light—just like real snow!
I die cut the main sentiment from Lessebo White cardstock and layered it with vellum behind it for a soft look that complements the snowy theme. I also stamped a small banner sentiment to place below it.
Arrange your holographic snowflakes and sentiment on the embossed and inked panel. Once you’re happy with the layout, use liquid glue for the smaller pieces and foam tape to add dimension to the sentiment and larger snowflakes. You could also mix some vellum snowflakes in between for added texture and depth.
For a frosty, wintry touch, use a Luster White Brush to add splatter across the card. This will mimic the look of falling snow, adding that final magical touch!
Finally, adhere the finished panel to an A2 card base (4.25x5.5) made from Lessebo White cardstock. And voila! Your snowflake-themed holiday card is complete and ready to spread joy this season.
I hope you enjoyed this snowflake card tutorial and feel inspired to create your own magical holiday cards. Whether you're crafting a batch for your holiday mailing list or just making a few special cards for loved ones, this design will definitely bring smiles.
