Hey there! It’s Kira and I am back with another project using some of my favorite Cardstock Warehouse papers and envelopes. My son is turning eight and I always become a little “extra” when it’s time to plan his party. He always comes up with the best themes and I am happy to make his dream a reality. This year he has chosen a National Park themed party, which has been a blast to plan!
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
- Cherry Wood Veneer 1 inch Belly Band
- Paper Bag Kraft 100lb
- Bright White 100lb
- Recycled White 100lb
- Oatmeal Speckletone 80lb
- Paper Bag Kraft Envelopes A7
- Adhesive
- Paper trimmer
For his invitations, I knew I wanted to create a “field guide” as part of it, and I wanted to make a brochure because for whatever reason, he is obsessed with brochures. He collects them everywhere we go, from the eye doctor to a hotel. So, from here, the rest of the invitations came together fairly easy.
Let’s talk about the envelopes first. I used an A7 sized Paper Bag Kraft envelope. I wanted to line it with something, so I looked on Etsy for something national park themed and found this digital of a vintage national park poster. I sized it to 7” wide and trimmed it so it would fit inside the envelope. Then I adhered it to the envelope with some adhesive.
While searching on Etsy, I also found some vintage postcard digital prints. I thought these would be a fun addition to the invites! I printed the postcards on matte photo paper. For the reverse side, I printed a postcard-back image from google images on some Bright White 100 lb cardstock. Then I trimmed everything down and adhered the two sides together. This created a nice thick, heavy postcard that could easily be sent in the mail if the recipients choose to do so.
For the invitation, I knew I wanted a “field guide” look. I designed the invites in Word and then printed them out on Oatmeal 80lb cardstock. These are 5x7 cards folded landscape. I rounded the corners with my corner rounder to give it an even more field guide look.
The brochure probably took the longest to make. I spent a few days fussing with it in Word to get it just right. I included a map of all the national parks on the inside. The outside has an excerpt I found online about what makes national parks special, along with a schedule of events for the party. I printed the brochure on Recycled White cardstock. It measures 7” tall and 10.5” wide when open all the way.
To keep everything together, I used a Cherry Wood Veneer belly band from our pre-cut cards. Then I used some little faux leaves from Hobby Lobby on top of the belly band.
Here’s a final look at everything together:
