Hi everyone! Today I am creating a cute fall layout using cut files and mixed media.
Here's what you'll need to create your own!
Supplies Needed:
- Electronic cutting machine
- Adhesive
- Mixed media products (gesso, paints, mists, etc)
Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers
- Vermillion Colorplan
- Tangy Orange Pop-Tone
- Orange Fizz Pop-Tone
- Blacktop Foundations
- True White Speckletone
- Copper Stardream
Optional:
- Sequins
- Embellishments
- Pattern paper
I used a plaid pumpkin cut file to create the biggest element on my page. This is the same cut file that I cut at different sizes to make them look different. I started by cutting out the pumpkins and assembling them. Then I cut the title. I chose to use the Copper Stardream paper for the title because I wanted to make it shine and the metallic paper really made this pop. Plus, copper is perfect for fall and a fun alternative to gold or silver.
Next, I planned out where I was going to place my pumpkins. Since they are the main element, I needed to know where they were going to live in order to do my mixed media. I chose to layer the pumpkins by color with the darkest in the back. I lightly traced my pumpkins but made the line just under the edge of the pumpkin (I don’t want the line to show).
Then I prepared for the mixed media by applying gesso to my paper. This acts as a primer and allows the paint to sit on top of the paper instead of soaking in. This protects your project from tearing due to excessive water and allows for some time to adjust your paint application. Once that dried, I started adding paint. I used 3 Shimmerz Paints products that closely matched my pumpkin colors. I used a red behind the Vermillion paper, an orangy-red behind the Tangy Orange, and a light orange behind the Orange Fizz. I used a paint brush and rolled the brush along the lines to create a layered watercolor effect. Once it was dry I adhered my pumpkins and title.
Finally, I added the SpiegelMom Scraps sequins in matching colors to each pumpkin area. I went overboard and really made the pumpkins sparkle. I also found some leaf sequins and added them around the page. I added a pattern paper border and a layer behind my photo and called it good!
