To start, I chose to use a cut file to cut out the pages for my mini album. In my Silhouette software, I did create extra pages so I could showcase the full rainbow. This book is a simple shape that is easily cut with scissors as well. Every other page in my album has a decorative edge. This is easy to recreate using punches or dies or even with scissors by cutting a scalloped edge. It is important to plan ahead and add extra length to any cards that you may want to do this technique with!
My mini album starts with a page that is 4x3.5 inches and ends with a page that is 6x3.5 inches. However, it is easy to make this whatever size you choose. Each page is approximately ¼ inch bigger than the page before. Use a hole punch to add the holes to the top of each page, making sure they match up.
Remember, if you are going to add a decorative edge you need to plan this into your page length! For example, if you have a punch that is ½ inch tall and cuts off ¼ inch from the bottom of what you are punching, you want to make sure that it won’t cut off too much of that page so that it won’t show under the next page. I suggest cutting your pages the same length to start, do your decorative edges, then cut each one down to fit the album.
Once you have the pages cut, it's time to embellish! I used the same collection throughout the album. I also chose to coordinate colors on each page. Then I added little bits and bobs that were hanging out on my desk to finish it off. 3 jump rings hold the album together and now it's ready for my daughter to add her photos!
