I’m always on the lookout for DIY gifts and treats during the holiday season due to the high number of people we end up giving gifts to. We recently wrote down a list of all the people we wanted to give at least treats to and, no exaggeration, we came up with over 20 names! No wonder people get overwhelmed during the holidays! #ADULTINGISHARD
So what started as a fun kid’s Christmas craft swifty evolved into gift tags for all the many treats we wanted to give to their teachers and people who have taken care of them. It all started with a cute phrase I found, “We appreciate you DEERLY,” and took off from there. Here’s what you'll need if you want to make some too:
SUPPLIES:
- Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Papers in China, and Bagdad Brown
- Red Pom Poms
- Googly Shaker Eyes
- Hole punch
- Hot glue gun
- Zig glue pen
- Cutting machine
First, I found a fun reindeer head on my Cricut Access image search and, even though it was one layer, I made it two layer by simply using the “slice” option and overlaying an object where you want the slice to be. I sized the reindeer heads to be about five inches and attached the text to the back side of my reindeer to avoid anyone having to suffer from seeing my handwriting. But feel free to use your own if you’d like!
Once everything was cut I simply layered the Bagdad Brown cardstock on the front of the China cardstock, making sure to leave the side with the writing on the back uncovered.
Then I got my hot glue gun out to adhere the googly eyes and pom pom nose to the front, creating a fun reindeer face.
Next, I punched a hole in the ear of each reindeer creating a spot for the string I want to attach the tags with. I like to use a ⅛ inch hole punch because it creates less opportunity for tearing but feel free to use whichever you have.
This is the perfect way to get your kids involved in some Christmas gifting and lets you exercise the crafty portion of your brain.
