Safe and Thankful Scrapbook Layout

Safe and Thankful Scrapbook Layout

The leaves are falling, the weather is crisp, and everything outside is beautiful! Is this not the most beautiful time of the year? In my opinion, I say yes! I’m trying to get my pictures on the wall more than on my phone. So, with that being said… We have another layout! This one comes complete with SVG files as well. Feel free to move them around as you see fit. All you need is two photos! I printed mine with no color so that I could concentrate on the beautiful colors of the paper. So get ready and let’s start getting the photos out of the box/phone and onto the wall or in an album! LET’S GO!

Start by cutting out all of the pieces included in the SVG file and any others you want to add to your layout. (You can see all the colors I'm using listed above.) I cut a bunch of leaves out of a few colors so I would have plenty to work with. This is also a good time to print your photos!

I used a very textured embossing folder to add some texture to my leaves. I wish I had a leaf embossing folder, but this script number one did just fine! Use what you have, there is no wrong answer here. Even the mirror paper embossed perfectly!

To assemble your pieces, find three zig-zags included in the SVG files. Use liquid glue to attach the two white zig-zag strips to the top and bottom of the Pistacchio zig-zag piece.

Next, attach your photos to the glitter rectangles, and then layer those onto the blue “file folder” pieces. I used double-sided tape for this part due to the texture and thickness of the glitter paper.

Finally, glue the smaller circle on top of the larger circle.

Once you have your pieces assembled, you can start layering pieces on your layout. Add your zig-zag strip to the center of the 11.5”x11.5” square layout backing. (You’ll layer this square on top of a 12x12 sheet later.)

Then, add your cirlce in the upper right corner. I let mine overlap a little bit of the green strip on purpose. To add my file folder photo pieces, I used foam tape toward the center of the rectangles and stuck those on. I left the edges clear of adhesive so I can tuck leaves behind them later. Place the larger rectangle (vertical) on the left, and the smaller rectangle (horizontal) towards the right. I let them overlap a bit as well.

Carefully apply your thin circles. These are for decoration and for texture, plus it adds a bit of shimmer! You may have to clip the circle to fit underneath your photo mat, but just place them where you see fit. I placed mine in the upper right corner,  the middle left, and the lower right just to make the photo layout have more movement.

Now we can apply those textured leaves we made earlier with the embossing folder. I placed mine in random spaces where I thought they would be good places for the eyes to move toward. I layered them in bundles of different colors. I attached these with wet glue one on top of the other and curled the edges of the leaves for a little bit of dimension.

Now you can add your sentiment. I wanted mine to be bold and I wanted the text to be a little bit different, so I used different fonts for them to stand out. These are also included in the SVG file, but use what you have or desire for your own layout.

To finish it off, I added foam tape to the back of the entire 11.5"x11.5" layout and placed it on top of the 12”x12” final sheet. This is what the dimension looks like with both of the bases stacked on top of each other. I love a dimensional layout!

Now you can write your page journaling inside the smallest circle on the layout. I have the worst handwriting, but it’s all written in love, lol!  Here are a few angles of how the layout looks close-up. See what a little cardstock can do?

And voilà, you’re done! Was that so bad? Nope! So grab your photos that are hidden in those little photo cases or the photo albums that are incomplete and make a beautiful layout so that everyone can enjoy them! Some ways to display your layouts include putting them directly on the walls, framing them, or putting them in albums.

Please let us know what you make! As always, thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you!  If you are super fancy - tag us in your creations on Facebook or Instagram. You can use the hashtag #cardstockwarehouse to be featured on our page!
