racing green, sno cone, chartreuse, candy pink, and gialloro papers for sea themed layout

My youngest son has a full blown shark/sea animal obsession, so for his fifth birthday we visited SeaWorld. I wanted to make a layout that was worthy of his love for sea animals, but had a very specific vision in mind. I could have easily scoured the market to find the just right embellishments for this layout, but loved the idea of creating my own!

I started with a simple sketch of how I wanted this layout to come together. I used Procreate on my iPad, but this can easily be done on some scratch paper you have laying around.

The first step in all my layouts is typing up my journaling and printing out my photo. I used Pure White as my background paper since I chose such a vibrant color scheme. My photo was printed at 3.5”x5” and then I roughly drew around it before hand cutting to the shape I wanted.

Once my photo was cut out, I adhered it to Sno Cone and hand cut around the photo leaving about an 1/8” border. Then I cut two more round/oval shapes to go on my page.

Next I started cutting out my fish. I used a pencil to draw some basic fish and shark shapes. Then I cut them out with my precision scissors.

I cut out strips of paper and punched small circles to embellish the fish a bit. I also punched out some white circles and put a black dot on each one for their eyes. And no ocean would be complete without some coral!

Finally, it was just a matter of placement and embellishing. I adhered all of the fish with some foam adhesive to make them pop.

On the journaling page, I included some more coral to the bottom to bring all of the colors to the reverse page.

I finished off the page with the Cricut cut title, “SeaWorld” in Sno Cone and added little water droplet gems around both pages.
