Hey, crafters! Erica here with a fun paper crafting tutorial. One of my favorite things about summer is that our farmers market is stocked with local in-season fruits and vegetables. My visit last week had me thinking about how fun it would be to make some summer fruit die cuts that I could use to make banners, embellish handmade cards, use as tags on gift bags, and anything else I need a cheerful decoration for. I chose the Sirio Color paper line because it die cuts beautifully and has vibrant colors.
Supplies:
- Cardstock Warehouse Cardstock Paper:
- Sirio Color Collection 83 lb. (all colors)
- Lessebo Colors Vanilla 83 lb.
- Cricut Machine
- Cricut Design Space File by Erica
- Bearly Art® Precision Glue
- Glue Dots
- Craft Tweezers
- Ball Rounder Tool
- Bone Folder
The first thing I did was prep my Cricut files. I linked all the files I used above, and they are already formatted for the Sirio Color paper colors. I die cut all my pieces on a Cricut Explore Air 2 on the heavy cardstock setting. My cuts came out so perfect and clean!
Although there are a lot of pieces, these fruits are very easy to put together. Most of them only have 3 layers, and I layered most of them together with Bearly Art Precision Glue. This glue is perfect for tiny pieces because it is easy to squeeze out only a small amount and control where it goes.
I left all of my die cuts flat with the exception of the blueberries. I glued together the layers of the calyx and then used a ball rounder tool to give them a bit of dimension. Once they were glued to the blueberry base, I used a bone folder to curl the blueberries a bit to give them just a small amount of dimension.
For the bundles of grapes, I used glue dots instead of liquid glue to adhere the grapes to their brown base. This allowed for a tiny bit of dimesion to show between each individual grape. Glue dots are perfect for larger die cut that are layered on top of each other.
Once all your fruit pieces are layered together, you are ready to use your die cut embellishments! I plan to make a little garland for my pantry and some cards with puns like "I love you berry much" and "you're berry cute." I also plan to use a few as tags for some summer birthday presents. So many fun possibilities for these!
