Hey y’all! Can you believe how quickly this year has flown by? I feel like I blinked and this year was almost over! Now it’s time for Christmas decorations; wrapping presents and before we know it it’ll be a whole new year! 2020 has been full of various experiences for us all; many of which were beyond anything we could have imagined would happen in the modern world we live in. But look at us, we survived and perhaps even thrived during the circumstances of this crazy year. All that to say; I am really happy you chose to spend a few minutes reading this, and I hope you’ll share if you use this tutorial to create a card!
Without further ado, let’s get this project done!

The first thing I did was print and heat set my image. I used a laminator because I have an inkjet printer. I ran my image through multiple times to make sure it wouldn't smudge when I color. (If you have a laser printer, you can skip this step.)
Next, I colored in the truck. The markers I used are shown below. I also added some snow accents to the tree using a white pen. When you are finished, fussy cut your image, leaving a bit of the snow at the bottom. This will be attached to your snow drifts later.
Die cut snow drifts out of Diamond Print Glitter Cardstock - I did this three times so I would have three snow drifts - you could also tear the paper so it has a bit of texture if you don’t have dies for it. Once you have your snow drifts, die cut the snow drift layers to fit the main panel using rectangle stitched dies.
Next, I die cut my sentiment. I cut two layers for the sentiment, one wood veneer and one chip board so I could glue them together to give them more dimension.
Next, I die cut my card panels using my stitched rectangle dies. I cut one using Diamond Print White Glitter and another slightly larger layer out of Cherry Wood Veneer.
After that, I die cut my cloud border to use as a stencil. I used my cloud stencil, inks, and my blending brushes to create the cloud background on the Diamond Print White layer.
For my card base I used Grapesicle 100lb - 8½ x 11. I cut mine at 7” and then scored at 3½” to create the base for my slimline card. The base should be 8 ½ x 7” when cut.
Now it's time to assemble the layers!
- Add first Snow drift layer
- Adhere Truck image to second snow layer
- Add third snow drift layer - I put foam tape on the sides and center to create more dimension
- Add second main panel layer
- Add main panel to card base
To finish, I adhered my sentiment and some embellishments with Nuvo Glue.
And now you have a handmade card to gift to a friend or family member this Christmas season.
